Excavation and dirt work contractors

Dirt work is priced by volume and machine time, not square feet. Measure length, width and depth and the app figures the cubic yards. Add loads, tons of gravel and equipment hours, and send the estimate from the site.

How you measure

  • Length by width by depth; the app turns it into cubic yards (type depth like 6in or 1.5 ft)
  • Clearing by the acre, grading and pad prep by the square foot
  • Gravel by the ton, haul-off by the truck load
  • Excavator, skid steer, dozer and dump truck time by the hour, plus haul in and out

Questions

How do I price dirt by the cubic yard?

Measure the length, width and depth. The app multiplies them and divides by 27 to get cubic yards, then applies your price per yard. Depth can be typed in inches, like 6in.

Can I charge for machine time instead?

Yes. Add excavator, skid steer or dozer time by the hour, and a flat charge to haul equipment in and out. Mix them with yard or load pricing on the same estimate.

Will my sales reps see my costs?

No. Reps see customer prices and their own commission. Costs, crew pay and company money never reach a rep's phone.

Do I have to use your prices?

No. The app starts with a list of common items so you are not starting from zero, but every item, unit and price is set by you.
